Wednesday, IATSE announced that unless they have a three-year contract signed sealed, and delivered by 12:01 PT Monday, they were prepared to strike.

Reminder: this will shut down movie and TV production.

Reportedly, the debate is over working conditions, such as the schedule of meal breaks and rest periods and the so-called ‘Fraturday’ hours when a crew works so late Friday night Saturday is a wash.

Anticipating a strike, the 13 local IATSE unions on the West Coast have already been stockpiling picket signs and masks, and are preparing to set up schedules for picket duty. Those locals represent camera operators, cinematographers, publicists, costumers, makeup artists, editors, sound technicians, electricians and set painters, among other disciplines.
