Aiden McCarthy, the two-year-old boy who was orphaned by the Highland shooter has been taken in by his grandparents. More than 2 million have been raised for him on GoFundMe.
The two-year-old was found under his father’s body along the parade route and tragically lost both parents.
To date, least seven people were killed and 47 more were injured after 21-year-old shooter Robert Crimo, 22, opened fire on the Independence Day parade from a rooftop with a legally-obtained AR-15-style weapon.
On Tuesday, Lake County State Attorney Eric Rinehart said Crimo had been charged with seven counts of first-degree murder. He said ‘dozens’ more charges would follow and he hopes to send Crimo to prison for life.
