There’s a new strain of COVID called JN.1.Variant, which is highly contagious, so the FDA recommends updating COVID vaccines for the Fall.

The experts say JN.1 emerged in the U.S. in late August last year and, by January, became the dominant strain in circulation.

The FDA told the advisory committee Wednesday that ‘studies have shown that currently available COVID-19 vaccines appear to be less effective against the variants that are now in circulation.’

And for those people who think the pandemic is over, in the fall and winter last season, Covid killed 40,000 people. Once again, the people most likely to get seriously ill or die were unvaccinated, and half had no underlying conditions.
