“Kolibri” means “hummingbird” in German, and the line pays tribute to Formulary 55 owner and CEO Kecia Hielscher’s German-born mother, who inspired her to find joy in life’s smallest moments. Hielscher, a 20+ year veteran of the fragrance industry, grew frustrated by the lack of truly clean, high-quality home fragrances she could trust in her own space. And so, she set out to create what she could find. The result is KolibriJoy – and five signature fragrances that serve as ‘daily reminders to celebrate life’s victories small and great and find strength in its challenges.
Resilience is an elegant scent that conveys sophisticated luxury. The heart of the fragrance contains sweet vanilla, cocoa, and lavender, as well as essential oils of lemon, clove leaf, eucalyptus, ginger, lavender, and patchouli.
The 10 oz. candles are made with a soy way blend, feature two cotton wicks, and come in beautiful handblown matte black glass jars. They burn for up to 50 hours and retail for $49 each at KolibriJoy and Formulary 55.
Here’s a bit more about each candle:
- Passion or “Do What You Love: — Robust and fruit forward with plum, pear and orange with a light floral hint of davana and jasmine
- Positivity or “Choose Happiness” — Tropical flowers, peach, mango and pineapple with a grounding hint of vanilla
- Confidence or “I Can and I Will” – Fresh and aquatic with mimosa flower, dewy pear, pinch of green tea and citrus with grounding musk
- Resilience or “Never Give Up” — Sophisticated, warm sweet vanilla gourmand scent with cocoa, lavender, and hints of amber and dry sandalwood
- Persistence or “You’ve Got This” — Green and woody, featuring hinoki cypress, juniper and cardamom with hints of bergamot, cedarwood and a pinch of black pepper
