Trump suggested that elections in states should be ‘nationalized’ to ‘prevent’ immigrants from voting. While there is no proof that noncitizens are voting in big numbers — that has actually been proven wrong — Trump suggested this was a way to ‘protect’ the party and keep from being voted out of office.

Trump claimed that immigrants “were brought” to the United States to vote, “and they vote illegally. And the, you know, it’s amazing that the Republicans aren’t tougher on it. The Republicans should say ‘we want to take over.’ We should take over the voting in at least many – 15 places – the Republicans ought to nationalize the voting.”
Trump, when questioned, replied: “I have the right to do anything I want to do. I’m the president of the United States.”
Many have commented that:
‘He’s trying to rig the midterms.’
