Two federal agents who opened fire on Mr. Petti, a 37-year-old nurse in Minneapolis, have been on leave since the shooting,  an official with the Department of Homeland Security admitted today. When the agents return, they will not be allowed back out on the field and will be given desk roles, sources say.

Stephen Miller, the mastermind  behind Trump’s hard-line immigration policy, had called Mr. Pretti a “terrorist” and told other administration officials, including Kristi Noem, nicknamed ‘ICE Barbie,’ to call him an “assassin.”

But when videos clearly contradicted that story, Trump and his administration quickly reversed their position.

Amid the growing protest marches, not just in Minneapolis but across the country, will this bring about change?

Three more Congressional Democrats called for the impeachment of Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary. At a news conference in Los Angeles, Laura Friedman, Judy Chu and Brad Sherman of California said Noem had “lied to the public” and demanded more accountability for her agency’s killings of American citizens.
