Despite Trump’s boasts that he would end the three-year Russian war against Ukraine after his planned meeting with Putin in Budapest next month, the meeting has been called off.
Putin has made it clear that his goal to conquer Ukraine has ‘not changed.’
Trump continues to insist that there have been ‘productive’ meetings, as Russia continues to bomb Ukraine.
Zelensky stressed what other nations have said, saying that Russia has “shown time and time again that Ukraine is the only party serious about peace.”
“We can all see that Putin continues to choose violence and destruction. Therefore we are clear that Ukraine must be in the strongest position possible — before, during and after any cease-fire.”
