Forecasters warn of a “nightmare scenario” of destructive winds, flooding and mudslides in the Mexican states of Guerrero and Oaxaca. Already, communications in Acapulco have been cut off by the category 5 Hurricane.

According to weather experts, the storm grew very quickly, ramping up to 110 miles per hour in 24 hours.

“There are no hurricanes on record even close to this intensity for this part of Mexico,” the hurricane center said late Tuesday.
