After three weeks of mayhem, the disjointed GOP elected an unknown — Mike Johnson — as elected Speaker of the House. This after thirteen failed candidates, four nominees and four floor votes.
It was the far-right conservatives that pushed the vote over the edge.
And he will be busy; government funding runs out on Nov. 17 unless Congress passes another stopgap measure; and Israel and Ukraine urgently await additional aid.
To get anything done, Johnson will have to get past the constant GOP infighting.
