Hollywood is in mourning after the shocking deaths of filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife
Legendary director and actor Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reine, were found stabbed to death in their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday in an apparent homicide. Their troubled son, Nick, has been arrested for the crime.
The couple’s deaths have sent shockwaves through the entertainment community.

Stars and collaborators took to social media to express their sorrow and pay tribute to the Reiners’ lives and legacy. Stand By Me actor Jerry O’Connell described the loss as “devastating,” likening Reiner’s death to losing a parent and reflecting on the director’s kindness and influence on his early career.
Filmmaker Paul Feig: “Rob was my true hero. A true visionary titan and a lovely lovely person. One never knows if it’s proper to post during something as tragic as this. But I just want the world to know what so many of us know in the industry. Rob was the best.”

Film critic Richard Roeper wrote on X, “Rob Reiner co-starred in one of the most influential sitcoms of all time, had an incredible run as a director — and was one of the kindest and most considerate human beings I’ve ever met in this business. RIP.”
Maria Shriver described Michele and Rob as some of her “closest friends.”
“We raised our kids together, from mommy and me on up. We laughed together, we cried together, we played together, we dreamed together. We had dinner this past week, and they were in the best place in their lives: loving one another, loving their friends, their family, their country. They never gave up on our country. They wanted to make it better. They always, always wanted to make our world better, and they were willing to fight to make it the country they loved,” she wrote.

Many actors who worked with Reiner shared heartfelt messages recalling his warmth and creative brilliance. Misery and Princess Bride stars and others remembered him as a transformative figure whose films shaped their careers. Acclaimed actors, including Kathy Bates, called the news “horrifying” and spoke of the deep personal impact Reiner had on their lives.
John Cusack, star of Rob’s The Sure Thing in 1985, wrote: “Shocked by the death of Rob Reiner – a great man.”

Across Hollywood, colleagues also honored Michele Singer Reiner for her contributions and partnership, recognizing the couple’s shared presence in film and life.
