A newly surfaced body-camera video has confirmed that Jared L. Wise, now a senior adviser within the Department of Justice, was recorded during the January 6 Capitol assault shouting, “Kill ’em! Kill ’em! Get ’em!”—urging violence against law enforcement officials. The clip was part of court exhibits obtained by NPR and later reported by CBS News and The Daily Beast.

The video, captured by a Metropolitan Police Department bodycam, shows Wise calling officers “the Nazi” and “the Gestapo,” then inciting rioters to violence as clashes unfolded .

NPR, CBS News, and others obtained the footage through court filings and legal action.

A former FBI supervisory special agent (2004–2017), Wise was indicted in 2023 on multiple charges—including assault, civil disorder, and trespassing—for his role in the Capitol attack .

Before a verdict could be reached, President Trump granted blanket pardons to all January 6 defendants—including Wise—on January 20, 2025, prompting dismissal of his case .

Post-pardon, Wise was rehired by the DOJ and now serves as a counselor to Ed Martin, head of the department’s controversial “Weaponization Working Group”  .

The DOJ has publicly referred to Wise as a “valued member” of its team.

Civil liberties advocates, former Jan. 6 prosecutors, and political observers have condemned the move, arguing it reflects the Trump administration’s lack of accountability in the aftermath of the Capitol siege—and undermines public trust in justice institutions .
