A police department in Irvine, California, purchased a flashy — and expensive — new piece of equipment to impress local children and keep them off drugs.

They added a  $150,000 Tesla Cybertruck to their fleet of police cars.

The Irvine police department said it believed the vehicle to be “the first police cyber truck in the nation.” It’s unlikely to be involved in any high-speed chases: police say it will mostly be used by officers for school programs, though it ‘can respond to emergencies.’

For the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (Dare) program, the police have used other flashy cars before, including small monster trucks. A police spokesperson said that since it doesn’t look like a police car, it’s more ‘approachable by kids and students and encourages interaction between officers and our schools and our community.”

Whatever happened to ‘Just Say NO?’
