UPDATE:

  • Torrential pre-dawn storms on July 4 unleashed over 12 inches of rain across Central Texas, centering on Kerr County and the Guadalupe River corridor .

  • The rapid rise of the Guadalupe—jumping from 7 ft to 29 ft in under an hour—obliterated roads, campgrounds, and cabins along its banks.

  • As of July 6, the death toll sits around 78–80, with at least 68 deceased in Kerr County (including 28 children) and 10+ fatalities in adjacent counties.

  • Approximately 41 people remain missing, among them 10 girls and one counselor from Camp Mystic, a Christian girls’ summer camp swept away by floodwaters.

  • Victims recovered include residents at RV parks and campgrounds: families like the Wilsons (a beloved teacher, Jeff Wilson, perished; his wife Amber and son Shiloh remain missing) and the Burgess and Kamin families are among those traumatized.

  • Over 850 rescues have been completed to date, thanks to coordinated efforts by ground teams, helicopters, drones, boats, and the Texas Military Department.

  • More than 400 rescue personnel are in the field, racing against possible “secondary walls of water” caused by upstream rains.

  • President Trump has been slammed for hitting the golf course again after 70 people, including 28children, were killed in flash floods in Texas.

Search efforts intensified at Camp Mystic and along the Guadalupe banks, although shifting weather caused authorities to pull crews intermittently for safety.

HOW TO HELP:

  • World Central Kitchen deployed to the area to bring water and food to emergency responders and is seeking donations.

  • The long-established Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country launched The Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, which it said would support rescue and rebuilding efforts.

  • Austin Pets Alive!, which has taken in more than 150 displaced pets from the floods, said it was most in need of monetary donations, after more than 2,000 people responded to its call for people to foster pets. It was also taking pet supplies.

  • GoFundMe compiled donation pages for verified individual victims.
