Fashion News: John Galliano OUT of MET Gala After Backlash.

The fashion world may have a short memory, but it was only in 2011 that designer John Galliano was taped making racist and antisemitic comments in a Paris café.

Like every celeb caught up in a controversy, he blamed it on drugs and entered an addiction center.

So when Anna Wintour picked the designer for the Met Gala 2027, it was met with intense backlash. A-listers threatened to boycott, and some of the sponsors of the museum said they would hold back funding.

The designer announced the news on Monday in an Instagram statement, writing;

“After much reflection and discussion with all those involved, I have decided, with great sadness, that it is best for the exhibition not to take place at this time.”

He continued, “I do not want the debate surrounding me to place the Met in a difficult position or to distract from the remarkable work of the Costume Institute. I also recognise and respect that an exhibition honouring my work would be painful for some.”

Anna Wintour announced that a new theme will be announced at a later date.
