The show must go on.

Just hours before Paul Rudd was set to host SNL, it was announced that “out of an abundance of caution, there will be no live audience.”

Not only that, but most of the crew and regular players were told to stay home (rumor has it that a number of cast members tested positive.) It taped in an empty studio with just a skeleton crew. Musical guest Charli XCX was also forced to cancel.

But viewers weren’t disappointed for long as Tom Hanks and Tina Fey showed up to help Paul Rudd host the show …and welcome him into the ‘five-time host’ club.

Airing old SNL vignettes, Michael Che and Tina Fey anchored ‘Weekend Update’ which was as topical as ever.

Paul Rudd ended the show on a high note: ”

‘What a crazy week, and an even crazier day. I know it wasn’t the Christmas show that you expected, but that’s the beauty of this place. Like life, it’s unpredictable.’
