Trump told reporters at the White House on Monday, “I do believe I will be having the honor of taking Cuba.”
“Taking Cuba. I mean, whether I free it, take it. I think I can do anything I want with it,” he said. “They’re a very weakened nation right now.”
This happened on the same day Cuba suffered a nationwide blackout, as they run out of fuel. With the US blockading shipments from Venezuela and elsewhere, the Island has been plunged into darkness numerous times.
The country’s Communist government announced that it would open itself to ‘foreign investment, including from the United States,’ though considering the decades-long U.S. embargo, there have been no details on how this might work.
