In partnership with the Autistic Self Advocacy Network, Mattel created a Barbie doll on the spectrum.
With subtle design features, autistic children can recognize themselves in this Barbie. Note the side gaze, a sensory-sensitive dress, and accessories including noise-canceling headphones, a spinning finger-clip fidget, and a symbol-based AAC tablet that many children use for communication.
