President Biden is making a wartime visit to Israel on Wednesday to demonstrate American support for the country — and to push for more humanitarian aid in Gaza.
Israeli National Security Council head Tzachi Hanegbi said in a news conference Tuesday that Israel viewed President Biden’s upcoming visit as “historic.”
“Tomorrow, for the first time in Israel’s history and for the first time in all its wars, the president of the United States will be here, with us, during our most difficult time,” Hanegbi said.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Monday that the US and Israel “have agreed to develop a plan that will enable humanitarian aid from donor nations and multilateral organizations” to reach civilians in the war-torn region.
As Israel bombs Gaza in an attempt to eliminate Hamas, innocent civilians are without power, water or much food.
