If Trump’s allies had hoped that Trump would focus on issues, such as the economy, their hopes were dashed yesterday at a rally in Asheville Auditorium.
Instead, the past President lobbed more personal attacks at Kamala Harris.
In a rambling speech that went on for more than an hour, Trump mocked President Biden over being pressured to exit the race, frequently criticized the Biden administration’s immigration policy, attacking immigrants as he usually does, and went after V.P. Harris, who is now leading in the polls.
He attacked both Kamala Harris and her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota, as overly liberal, calling her a “San Francisco liberal” and again resorted to insults, dragging up his old chestnut of nicknaming Walz and ‘Tampon Tim.’
“Her laugh is career-threatening,” Trump said of Ms. Harris at one point. “That’s a laugh of a person with some big problems.”
He added: “For nearly four years, Kamala has cackled as the American economy has burned.”
