I’m not crying; you’re crying. The most ‘woke’ company today — that would be Gillette — has a new commercial where a compassionate father teaches his transgender son to how to shave for the first time.

“Growing up, I was always trying to figure out what kind of man I wanted to become and I’m still trying to figure out what kind of man I want to become,” says Samson Bonkeabantu, a transgender activist in the commercial. “I always knew I was different. I didn’t know there was a term for the type of person I was.”

In one frame, Brown’s face is lathered with shaving cream and his dad stands next to him.

“Now don’t be scared,” his dad says. “Shaving is about being confident. Aw, you’re doing fine. You’re doing it fine.”

Why is this commercial so critical? Transgender youth commit suicide at an alarming rate and showing family support — as the father does in this commercial — can make all the difference. Bravo, Gillette, bravo.
