So Steve Bannon boasted that he wouldn’t comply with the January 6th committee investigation, saying Trump had told him not to and that the former President had ‘executive privilege.’ Only current presidents have that privilege but Trump was never very good with the law.

Since he refuses to comply the committee is threatening to hold Bannon in contempt.

“Mr. Bannon has declined to cooperate with the Select Committee and is instead hiding behind the former President’s insufficient, blanket, and vague statements regarding privileges he has purported to invoke,” Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson, who chairs the committee, said in a statement on Thursday.

Any individual who is found liable for contempt of Congress is then guilty of a crime that may result in a fine and between one and 12 months imprisonment, though it is rare that anyone serves time.
