In Iran, authorities acknowledged that over 50 girls’ schools have been hit with poisoning incidents. The school girls reportedly complained of headaches, some paralysis and described smelling chlorine or cleaning agents. Many of them have been hospitalized.
Suspicion in Iran has fallen on possible hard-liners for the poisoning since they believe women should not be educated (as does the Taliban.)
These attacks have raised fears across the country that other girls could be poisoned, just for going to school.
