Former VP Mike Pence finally broke his silence about Jan. 6 when he and other lawmakers hid from a violent mob. And that’s only because he has a book to flog.

On ABC, Pence promoted ‘So Help Me God’ (out Tuesday) and reluctantly answered questions from anchor David Muir.

He finally admitted that Trump’s tweet during the Capitol attack had put him and his family in grave danger.

“The president’s words that day at the rally endangered me and my family and everyone at the Capitol building,” Mr. Pence told Mr. Muir.

He went on: “I mean, the president’s words were reckless. It was clear he decided to be part of the problem.”

And when asked if Trump should run again, Pence took a long pause and then stated:

“I think that’s up to the American people,” Pence replied. “But I think we’ll have better choices in the future. … People in this country actually get along pretty well once you get out of politics. And I think they want to see their national leaders start to reflect that same compassion and generosity of spirit.”

Remember, Pence used to be a loyal foot soldier of Trump so any criticism of his former boss is extraordinary.
