Thursday morning — much too early — the 76th Golden Globe Awards   nominations were announced.

Rowdier than the Oscars (might have something to do with all the free champagne) the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s picks were not surprising. Blockbuster films hits such as “Black Panther,” “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “A Star Is Born” are competing for best drama against the critically acclaimed “BlacKkKlansman” and “If Beale Street Could Talk,” directed by Spike Lee and Barry Jenkins, respectively, who directed the Oscar-winning “Moonlight.”
“Vice,” a dark satire about George W. Bush selecting Dick Cheney to be his running mate in 2000, scored the most film nominations with six. In the television categories, nominations were widely distributed. “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” led among TV series with four nominations.
