Remember after the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, Donald Trump maintained that the rioters posed “zero threat,” and that the violent rioters were merely “hugging and kissing the police and the guards” during the assault? And other Republicans maintained that the rioters were mere ‘tourists?’

Well, the Capitol police didn’t feel the love.

Five people died and more than 140 officers were injured. In House hearings investigating the attack, officers have testified about the mental and physical abuse they suffered …and still receive threats today. And there has been a terrible toll on mental health with four officers committing suicide.

In their lawsuit, the Capitol police allege that Trump and his allies violated the Civil Rights Act of 1871 — commonly known as the ‘Ku Klux Klan Act.’

There have been numerous suits filed against Trump but what makes this one stand out is that the seven Capitol Police officers aren’t just suing Trump, they’ve also named the Trump campaign in the case, plus Roger Stone, and members of the Proud Boys and members of the Oath Keepers.

Not tourists.
