On Tuesday, California lifted almost all its COVID restrictions as the State moves closer to fully reopening.
The state has one of the highest rates of vaccination in America; according to the latest numbers, 56% of residents of all ages — and 72% of adults — have had at least one dose of vaccine.
As you’ll remember, the Golden State was one of the first to go into lock-down and has been cautious about lifting any restrictions.
The big change is people don’t have to be masked, except in certain situations, such as hospitals, public transportation, airplanes, and senior care facilities.
There is no social distancing or limited capacity at restaurants, movie theatres, or public events though many sporting events have separate sections for the unvaccinated and many music events require proof of a vaccine or recent negative COVID test.
Still, medical experts recommend that if you’re in a large group and have no way of knowing if everyone is vaccinated you might want to stay masked. While breakthrough infections are rare, they are still a possibility. And with so many youngsters still not vaccinated, it’s important to protect them since you can carry COVID and be asymptomatic.
