As questions still continue to swirl over why Will Smith didn’t suffer any repercussions for slapping comedian Chris Rock during the Oscars, the Oscar committee quickly released a statement Monday morning saying that they condemned his actions and were starting a ‘formal review.’
“The academy condemns the actions of Mr. Smith at last night’s show,” the organization said in a statement. “We have officially started a formal review around the incident and will explore further action and consequences in accordance with our bylaws, standards of conduct and California law.”
Chris Rock has already said he won’t press charges so this may just be posturing by the Academy.
