CDC Says Americans Who Are Fully Vaccinated Can Travel At ‘Low Risk To Themselves.’

The CDC updated its guidance on travel after news studies demonstrated the real-world effectiveness of the COVID vaccinations in protecting against infection and the spread of the deadly virus.

Though the agency indicates that the fully vaccinated can travel “at low risk to themselves,” both within the United States and internationally, they must continue to still take the usual precautions, ie. wearing a mask in public, avoiding crowds, maintaining social distancing, and of course, washing hands.

Keep in mind that Americans need to check with the rules in different countries to see if they need a negative COVID test before entering and coming back to the U.S. you’ll need to have a negative result before you board an international flight back, though you won’t need to quarantine.

“With millions of Americans getting vaccinated every day, it is important to update the public on the latest science about what fully vaccinated people can do safely, now including guidance on safe travel,” CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said in a statement. “We continue to encourage every American to get vaccinated as soon as it’s their turn, so we can begin to safely take steps back to our everyday lives. Vaccines can help us return to the things we love about life.”
