According to reports in Turkey, Hatice Cengiz, the fiancée of murdered Saudi writer Jamal Khashoggi has been given 24-hour police protection. She waited outside the Saudi consulate in Turkey while the journalist went in to get papers for their marriage. When he didn’t reappear, she was the one who alerted the authorities.
On Saturday, Cengiz posted a touching Twitter tribute to her partner and there is concern that the Saudis could retaliate against her, hence the protection.
