Oscar watchers noticed some of the stars walking the Red Carpet were wearing red pins. What was that about?

It meant the celebs were showing their support for a cease-fire in Gaza.

Earlier, more than 400 members of the entertainment industry signed a letter written to President Joe Biden by Artists4Ceasefire, and Sunday night some celebrities continued to show support for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war by wearing a red pin from the same organization, which features a red palm with a heart on it.

Musicians Finneas O’Connell and Billie Eilish were among those wearing the pins, along with actor Mark Ruffalo and comedian Ramy Youssef.

Mark Ruffalo posted on his Instagram on Oct.9th :

“This horrific violence must end. I have no answers obviously, but I feel it is absolutely necessary to focus on our shared human existence and reality. The sanctity of our common humanity will hopefully serve to heal the unimaginable wounds of division.”

Outside the event, protesters calling for a cease-fire disrupted traffic around the Dolby Theatre forcing the Academy to hustle some of the biggest stars to the awards in golf carts.
