The G7 summit kicks off today in Quebec hosted by Canadian PM Justin Trudeau but don’t expect the foreign leaders to greet Trump with any warmth. Why? Let’s count the reasons:
- US allies are angry with Trump over his trade policies – think steel and aluminum tariffs on Mexico, Canada, and the EU.
- Trump is the only world leader not to sign on for Global Climate change.
- . Allies are also mad as hell about the U.S. pulling out of the Iran nuclear deal.
- Oh yes, and President Trump on Friday said Russia should be readmitted to the Group of Seven. (Russia has been on the outs since their 2014 annexation of Crimea. Let’s just say it was a friendly takeover.)
It doesn’t help that Trump conveniently is leaving early for his meet-and-greet in Singapore with North Korean’s Kim Jong Un.
