Remember last year when Uber, yes, the rideshare company, launched champagne-tasting trips in France and hot air balloon rides in Turkey?
Now, they offer South African safaris on an inexpensive day trip from Cape Town.
The new “Uber Safari” option, which will be available on Fridays and Saturdays through Jan. 25, will cost just $200 for up to four people for the day.
According to the Uber press release, travelers who book the safari ‘will be whisked away from Cape Town to the Aquila Private Game Reserve in an Uber Safari-branded vehicle. There, they will be greeted with a welcome toast and lunch before boarding a traditional safari vehicle for a game drive.’
You need to book on the Uber app 90 days in advance.
Just open the app and select the “‘Uber Safari” icon from the home screen. Then choose a date and enter pickup and dropoff locations. If your trip is confirmed, you’ll receive an email.
Tip: do not get out of the jeep unless instructed to do so. Our Mum, a painter, did that when she wanted to sketch a lion and was kicked off the safari.
