What you might have missed: The heads of the intel agencies, including Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and CIA Director Gina Haspel, contradicted most of Trump’s foreign policy statements.

Intel chiefs report to the  Senate Intelligence Committee on ‘Worldwide Threats’

Here’s a few instances:

  • On ISIS. Trump says the terror group has been defeated; the intel chiefs say it’s resurgent.
  • On North Korea. Trump says the nuclear threat is over; the intel chiefs say it’s unlikely the North will completely give up its nukes.
  • On climate change. Trump once called it a “hoax”; the intel chiefs say the possible “irreversible damage” caused by it may create significant security challenges in the future as people compete for resources.

Here’s how Trump responded. They (meaning intel chiefs) were “extremely passive and naive” and tweeted wildly; ‘They are wrong! When I became President Iran was making trouble all over the Middle East, and beyond. Since ending the terrible Iran Nuclear Deal, they are MUCH different, but a source of potential danger and conflict. They are testing Rockets (last week) and more, and are coming very close to the edge. There economy is now crashing, which is the only thing holding them back. Be careful of Iran. Perhaps Intelligence should go back to school!”
