The race for television’s biggest honor is officially underway, and one series is leading the pack.
The 2026 Emmy nominations were announced Wednesday morning, with HBO Max’s acclaimed medical drama The Pitt earning an impressive 25 nominations, making it the most-nominated series of the year. The breakout hit continues its remarkable awards streak after winning Outstanding Drama Series last year and has quickly become one of television’s most celebrated dramas.
Leading the nominations is star Noah Wyle, who received another nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his gripping performance as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch. The series also scored multiple acting nominations for its outstanding ensemble cast, along with recognition for writing, directing, and numerous technical categories.
Close behind was HBO Max’s comedy Hacks, which earned 24 nominations—the most ever received by a comedy series in a single year. Other top contenders include Apple TV+‘s Pluribus with 18 nominations and Netflix’s Beef with 16.
The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards will take place on September 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with Mariska Hargitay set to host the ceremony, which will air live on NBC and stream on Peacock.
If the nominations are any indication, The Pitt is once again the drama to beat as television’s biggest night approaches.
