The CDC just announced it will let Royal Caribbean take off on a ‘test voyage’ in U.S. waters as the Cruise Industry hopes to re-launch its Industry. As you’ll remember, Cruise lines have been land-locked since early in the pandemic when they became Petri dishes for COVID.
Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas ship, based in PortMiami, will begin running simulated cruises with volunteer passengers on June 20. For this trial run, all passengers must be vaccinated and over 18.
They also must agree to be evaluated for COVID-19 symptoms before and after boarding, and then follow up with a coronavirus test three to five days after the cruise.
As per the CDC, events onboard, like concerts and meals, will also still require social distancing and the ship will only be filled to 10% capacity.
Anyone up for a fake cruise to nowhere?
