The tagline for Creative’s Pebble Desktop speakers is ‘small, but mighty’, and that’s even more true when you opt for the Pebble Plus. The newest addition to the Pebble family, the Plus comes with a downfiring sub-woofer so the bass is amplified. Big time.

I tested out the tiny speakers — they’re only 4.4 inches wide — along with the new subwoofer and I was seriously impressed. The sound is rich and full, an impressive improvement over the average desktop speakers. And they’re prettier, too. The orb-shaped speakers look sleek and futuristic. And the subwoofer, a basic black box that delivers impressive bass, hides easily on the floor under my desk. The speakers and the subwoofer are tethered together and are all powered with one USB cord, so there’s no need to find a wall plug. The system comes in black or white at Creative Labs and at $29.99 it definitely won’t break the bank. Available mid-April.
