NBC called it a ‘Twitter meltdown;’ another said it was a ‘disaster’; or ‘it exploded like a SpaceX rocket.’

They’re talking about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s planned Presidential announcement on Twitter Spaces which was hit by numerous technical outages.

By the time it started — twenty minutes later -there were only 70,000 listeners left.

“I am running for president of the United States to lead our great American comeback,” DeSantis said.

“American decline is not inevitable. It is a choice,” DeSantis said. “And we should choose a new direction, a path that will lead to American revitalization.”

As expected, DeSantis echoed many of his cultural wars messaging that has roiled his time as Governor of Florida, including book banning, a very public fight with Disney, anti-LGBTQ laws, an abortion ban, and other ugly policies.

He also criticized President Joe Biden over, well everything.
