Tightening ‘miracle workers’ have come a long way since they first appeared on QVC and social media.

Companies promising a ‘four-minute cosmetic non-surgical facelift’ claim that they offer the next best thing to surgery.

Too good to be true?

We tried the new Rejuvalift Advanced Tightening and Lifting Formula –which claims to eliminate most wrinkles for up six hours. Use it to ‘lift under-eye bags, reduce facial wrinkles, smooth out crepey skin texture, and remove lines around lips, forehead and eye area’ says the brand. In 4 minutes.

Did we notice a difference? Much to our surprise, we did.

But how does it work exactly?

It uses ingredients such as peptides (Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, to be exact) with tightening clays and collagens that work in tandem to temporarily smooth and lift the skin, eliminating fine wrinkles and bags under the eyes.

Let the doctor explain:

“The clays featured in the Rejuvalift Advanced Tightening and Lifting Formula are miracle ingredients,” according to Rejuvalift’s Cosmetic Chemist Dr. Marta Pazos. “Resourced naturally and very easy to purify, unlike some organic ingredients that require some serious purification involving many steps and solvents. They have the ability to redistribute water within the skin.”

After a couple of uses, we discovered a few tips.

  1. When they say to use a tiny amount, they’re not kidding.
  2. If you have any white residue left it means you applied too much.
  3. Close the tube right after using and you’ll get multiple applications.

Here’s the thing though; for us, it only lasted a couple of hours and if you apply oil-based makeup it dissolves the Rejvalift almost instantly. They recommend using a light powder or pressed powder to keep the effect. So that means that unless you use a powder sunscreen the effects will disappear the minute you apply a lotion/spray. And if you’re sweating, forget it.

The starter pack is only $20 (for 10 tubes) and for days when we’re not wearing makeup, it’s a way to look younger in four minutes, for a few hours. This isn’t something we’d reapply while we’re out either.
