Pope Francis pleaded with world leaders as they head to the  COP26 climate summit to take ‘radical decisions’ to protect the environment and prioritize the common good.

‘These crises present us with the need to take decisions, radical decisions that are not always easy.

‘At the same time, moments of difficulty like these also present opportunities. Opportunities that we must not waste.’

The head of the Catholic church added that climate change coupled with the pandemic exposed the world’s “deep vulnerability, raised numerous doubts and concerns about our economic systems and the way we organize our societies”.

The Pope also called on countries to share a “renewed sense of shared responsibility for our world”.

Pope Francis just met with President Biden and plans to meet with several other world leaders before the climate summit in Glasgow.
