Days after the iconic designer, Kate Spade, died of her own hand, hanging herself at home while her husband was in the other room, more details are emerging.
Reportedly, in the suicide note she left for her daughter, only 13, she told her she loved her, that it was ‘not her fault’ and told the teenager to ‘ask daddy.’
Police revealed that Andy Spade had asked his wife for a divorce after 24 years of marriage and was living in a separate apartment. According to Kate’s sister, Reta Saffo, Kate had suffered from bipolar disorder but wouldn’t seek help for fear it would hurt her brand.
‘She did not receive the proper care for what I believed to be… bipolar disorder,’ said Ms. Saffo. She believes that marital problems sent her sister over the edge.
