The New York governor declared a  ‘disaster emergency’ amid a staffing shortage crisis prompted by vaccine resisters after the state requirement went into effect on Monday.

Reportedly, thousands of healthcare workers in New York have refused to get vaccinated which means they could be laid off or put on unpaid leave.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul says she will call on the National Guard and out-of-state medical workers to fill hospital staffing shortages if necessary.

By declaring a state of emergency, it means New York can bring in other licensed healthcare workers from other states as well as retired nurses.

This couldn’t come at a worse time as New York State battles the Delta Variant and is already under so much pressure.
