At 1:30 am this morning an emergency call came through, saying there was a fire near the famous Getty Center near the 405 freeway. In only a number of hours, the winds propelled the wildfire into an 85-mile zone, causing over 200,000 to be evacuated. Homes in the tony areas have already been lost and the LAPD is on tactical alert.

Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Koretz has a strong warning for residents in mandatory evacuation zones: “Get the hell out.”

“If you’re in the mandatory evacuation zone and you’re still there watching this, you’re an idiot, get the hell out,” Koretz said in a news conference this morning.
