CNN’s prime-time broadcast of a town hall with Donald Trump — which gave him a platform to repeat the usual falsehoods, starting with the old chestnut that he won the election — has resulted in criticism from inside and outside the network.

Even the network’s own commentators were shocked by what happened in the 70-minute free for all.

“We don’t have enough time to fact-check every lie he told,” Jake Tapper told viewers on Wednesday night.

As was expected, Trump bullied and talked over the moderator Kaitlan Collins, at one point insulting her by calling her a ‘nasty person.’

And referred to writer E. Jean Carroll as a ‘whack job.’ Her lawyers are considering whether to sue Trump again for defamation.

Meanwhile, CNN Chairman Chris Licht defended his decision today, saying vehemently:

“I absolutely, unequivocally believe America was served very well by what we did last night,” Mr. Licht added.

“People woke up, and they know what the stakes are in this election in a way that they didn’t the day before,” Chris Licht added.

Even the network’s own media newsletter, “Reliable Sources,” noted  “It’s hard to see how America was served by the spectacle of lies that aired on CNN Wednesday evening.”
