After an Oklahoman County Sheriff and two staffers were accidentally recorded talking about lynching black residents and killing reporters, they have been suspended as the backlash grows.

The entire recording has already been turned over to the FBI and the Oklahoma attorney general’s office, the law firm has said.

How did the tape come to light?

A reporter, who was doing an interview with the lawmen for the local newspaper, accidentally left his tape machine running in the conference room and when he went back later, was horrified to hear what had been said.

Warning: It’s tough to listen to.
