You can be forgiven for thinking that this is some reality TV rumor, but Caitlyn Jenner officially filed paperwork to run for Governor of California against Gavin Newsom.

The 71-year-old announced the news on Instagram writing:

‘I’m in! California has been my home for nearly 50 years. I came here because I knew that anyone, regardless of their background or station in life, could turn their dreams into reality.

‘But for the past decade, we have seen the glimmer of the Golden State reduced by one-party rule that places politics over progress and special interests over people. Sacramento needs an honest leader with a clear vision.

‘I have been a compassionate disrupter throughout my life, from representing the United States and winning a gold medal at the Olympics to helping advance the movement for equality.’

Though she is a registered Republican she didn’t make clear if she’s running as one, since she didn’t vote for Trump in 2020 because of his prejudice against transgender people.

Caitlyn has hired some former Trump aides, including Brad Pascal and pollster Tony Fabrizio, which gives an insight into what kind of campaign she might run.
