Infowars host Alex Jones has been ordered to pay $965million dollars in compensation (let’s just round that up to a billion) to the families of eight victims of the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary, as well as an FBI agent who responded to the massacre, for years of lies that the shooting was a hoax.
Jones had repeatedly claimed that the 2012 massacre, which left 20 students and six teachers dead, was a ‘hoax’ and had been ‘staged’.
The amount combines the damages for defamation, slander, and emotional distress.
It is the largest defamation suit damages in US history. Many of the parents in the courtroom broke down in tears upon hearing the verdict.
