Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe listens on Capitol Hill in Washington.

For the first time, we’re hearing from former FBI acting Director Andrew McCabe, that after Trump summarily fired FBI Director James Comey, high-level talks about invoking the 25th Amendment to remove the President took place.

McCabe spoke to CBS News’ Scott Pelley, who broke the news Thursday morning.

“The most illuminating and surprising thing in the interview to me were these eight days in May when all of these things were happening behind the scenes that the American people really didn’t know about,” Pelley said on the show.

We’re also learning that McCabe ordered the investigation into whether Trump obstructed justice so Trump couldn’t terminate the inquiry after firing him without leaving a paper trail.

Why are we just hearing about this now? For the simple reason that McCabe has just published a book called “The Threat: How the FBI Protects America in the Age of Terror and Trump.”

Tune in for the entire interview with McCabe on ’60 Minutes.”
