After the tragic Israeli strike that killed seven aid workers from World Central Kitchen, President Biden held what was reported to be a ‘challenging’  call with the Israeli Prime Minister.

Biden called for an immediate cease-fire, a deal to release hostages, and guarantees that there would be no more bombing of aid workers who carefully inform the IDF of their proposed routes in advance.

Without some guarantees, Biden stressed that Israel risks losing US support (money and weapons.)

It seems to have worked. On Friday, Netanyahu approved the opening of a key crossing so aid can once again flow into Gaza. Israel also allowed its Ashdod port to process aid shipments bound for Gaza and increased Jordanian aid shipments through another land crossing.
