President Joe Biden called George Floyd’s family on Monday as the nation braces for a verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial.
“He was just calling. He knows how it is to lose a family member. And he knows that the process of what we’re going through so he was just letting us know that he was praying for us, and hoping that everything would come out to be OK,” George Floyd’s brother Philonise Floyd told NBC on Tuesday morning.
Confirmed by White House press secretary Jen Psaki, she tweeted:
“President Biden spoke with the family of George Floyd yesterday to check in with them and also share that the family was in his prayers.”
You’ll remember Biden flew to Houston to meet with Floyd’s family shortly after his murder.
