Trump’s relationship with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is deteriorating once again, with a controversial Russian diesel deal, delayed Patriot missile deliveries and growing disagreements over the war threatening to deepen the divide between Washington and Kyiv.

The latest flashpoint came after Trump announced an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin to allow Russian diesel fuel to reach American and global markets. The deal, which involves more than 2.25 million barrels of diesel, has drawn criticism from Ukrainian officials and U.S. lawmakers who argue that easing restrictions on Russian energy exports could provide Moscow with additional revenue while its war against Ukraine continues.

The Trump administration has defended the agreement as a diplomatic move intended to bring Putin back to negotiations and potentially help lower fuel prices. However, critics question whether offering Moscow economic benefits will persuade the Russian leader to agree to peace.
The agreement has also intensified concerns that Trump is placing pressure on Ukraine while pursuing closer economic and diplomatic ties with the Kremlin.
